Motorist hits several cars and flees the scene

A Mitsubishi Pajero SUV caused panic on Friday evening in Opotiki, New Zealand. After plunging into a parked car, it crashed into another, sending both vehicles hurtling into a parking lot near the Opotiki Hotel. Witnesses, gathered outside a pub, fled as the SUV continued its mad dash. The police, present at the scene, did not intervene immediately. The car was found abandoned on State Highway 35, but the occupants escaped detection. The investigation to identify them continues.
