A lone police officer is shot by an organized gang

In Durban's Somerset Park district, a security guard spotted a suspicious man near a house on September 16. When he approached, the suspect jumped into a Toyota Starlet driven by an accomplice and fled. The officer managed to intercept them, but the occupants opened fire. A second vehicle, a Toyota pickup, arrived with more men, including one equipped with a bulletproof vest and a rifle. The agent miraculously escaped the bullets. The gunmen are still unaccounted for.
