Heavy rain and flooding hit Tennessee, particularly around Chattanooga, where several streets are completely submerged. Cars were swept away and a state of emergency was declared. In East Ridge, a tree fell on a car, killing a family. Rescuers worked for several days to evacuate residents from their homes and vehicles. One man is still missing. Major highways such as Interstate 24 were closed. More than 15 cm of rain fell, making it the second wettest day on record in Chattanooga.
