In a crowded bingo hall, Washington police officers were forced to intervene decisively when a carjacking suspect, 41-year-old Benjamin Steven Woods, threatened officers with a firearm. After an intense chase that began in a parking lot, Woods fled inside the room, armed. Faced with the immediate threat, the deputies, Deputy Michael Gonzalez and Deputy Jim Payne, reacted quickly, neutralizing the suspect to ensure the safety of the many bingo attendees. The tragic events resulted in Woods' death and the arrest of an accomplice for residential burglary.
