Violent brawl sends Madrid subway passengers fleeing

The National Police have arrested 16 people involved in a massive brawl early Sunday morning on a Madrid Metro line 10 train at Batán station. The brawl, which started at around 6.45am, involved young individuals of various ages and nationalities, including four minors. They used belts and at least one knife. The brawl then spread to one of the station's platforms, causing some of the participants to flee onto the tracks, where they were intercepted by police. Two young men were slightly injured: one was stabbed in the back and taken to hospital in La Paz, while the other, with several bruises, was treated on site.
