Violent attack on refuse collection crews in Stoke-on-Trent

In a shocking attack, a gang of four men violently assaulted two teams of refuse collectors on separate occasions in Stoke-on-Trent. Following an altercation on Fairhaven Grove, Birches Head, the driver of a black Vauxhall Corsa grabbed a crosswalk sign and attacked the garbage can lorry. Later, the gang, armed with axes, hammers and other weapons, attacked another refuse truck on Birches Head Road. As a result of these assaults, three refuse collectors were injured, requiring hospital treatment. The car was found in Kidsgrove with a hammer inside. Four suspects have since admitted to various offences and are awaiting sentencing
