A Connecticut detective bravely fended off a violent attack, from a man who charged her with a hammer. The incident occurred after Karli Travis responded to a report of noise and broken glass in Middletown. Despite being struck four times, Travis managed to shoot Winston Tate, slightly injuring him. Tate has a history of violence and has been jailed twice for assaults on officers. At his court appearance, he attempted to remove his clothing and was held on $500,000 bail. Middletown Police Chief Erik Costa called Travis a hero for his courage in the face of this brutal attack
