A 23-year-old man, Abdullah Khan, with no criminal record, attacked a police officer on Capel Street in Dublin. He charged at two officers shouting "Allahu Akbar" and stabbed one of them several times, even puncturing his bullet-proof vest. A passer-by intervened to tackle him to the ground, before the second officer used gas and baton to neutralize him. The wounded officer returned home. No evidence of links with terrorism. The suspect remains in custody and will appear before a judge again next week.
