Police officer assaulted and robbed on New York street

Two men, dressed in black and wearing masks, violently assaulted an off-duty NYPD officer in uniform. They struck him several times, even leaving a sneaker print on his face. The officer was hospitalized with a fractured eye socket, but is in stable condition. They also stole his duty belt from his vehicle. Shortly afterwards, the father of one of the robbers, 23-year-old Taveon Hargrove, was arrested for attempting to use the policeman's bank card. The second assailant is still being sought.
