Tragedy struck in Étel, France, on April 5, 2024, when an intoxicated 58-year-old man deliberately crashed his vehicle into the "Le Chat qui pêche" restaurant. The act appeared to be revenge after the man had been ejected from the restaurant for assault. The toll of this reckless act was heavy: eleven people were injured. The driver, who fled immediately after the incident, was quickly captured by the police.
