Influencer Warda Anwar, known as Haneia Nakei, has been given a ten-month suspended prison sentence in France. She had posted a video on Instagram, in which she mocked an Israeli baby allegedly burned in an oven by Hamas. Her comments sparked a wave of indignation, leading to charges of apologie du terrorisme and public incitement to hatred. The Paris court judged his comments as an attempt to minimize the terrorist act and whitewash Hamas. Anwar denied having intended to provoke, defending herself by saying that she was denouncing propaganda. In addition to her sentence, she must take a citizenship course and pay damages and court costs. Her lawyer has appealed against the conviction for incitement to hatred, but accepts that of apologie du terrorisme.
