Members of anindigenous tribe from Hongana Manyawa confronted workers in an Indonesian rainforest. A video shows two members of the tribe, armed with spears, threatening the workers. One of them appears ready to throw a machete at them, but the two men flee when the driver of a bulldozer revs up his engine. According to Caroline Pearce, Director of Survival International, this video is evidence of an "ongoing human rights catastrophe". She points out that mining companies are illegally exploiting the territory of the Hongana Manyawa, in violation of international law which requires the free, prior and informed consent of the tribe for any industrial project on their territory.
